 Here are some suggestions about what you absolutely must not miss in Florence.

                1.Florence Cathedral – First stop on the bicycle tour

The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, more commonly known as Florence Cathedral, is  one of the most visited sites in the world. In terms of size, it is the fourth-largest Christian church and Florence’s principal church and symbol of the city. Do not miss a visit to Brunelleschi’s dome, a masterpiece of engineering.
Piazza del Duomo is the city centre, where you can admire the main monuments of the historic centre. The square hosts the city’s principal religious celebrations, such as the Scoppio del Carro, held at Easter.

                   2. Piazza della Signoria – Cultural stop by bike

Piazza della Signoria is the centre of political power and one of Florence’s most famous squares. Here you can admire numerous monuments and open-air statues, including the Loggia dei Lanzi, the Marzocco, Michelangelo’s David (now replaced by a copy), and the Fountain of Neptune (also called the Biancone by Florentines). However, the central feature of the square is the fourteenth-century Palazzo Vecchio, home to the city council, characterised by a 94-metre-high tower. Inside the palace is the famous Salone dei Cinquecento, where you can admire monumental frescoes and a magnificent coffered ceiling.

                               

   3.Ponte Vecchio – Panoramic cycling route

Cross the Arno by bike as you head towards the famous Ponte Vecchio. This section of our route offers breathtaking views of the river and the historic goldsmiths’ workshops.

Ponte Vecchio is one of the most famous bridges in the world and the oldest bridge in Florence crossing the Arno River. Above the bridge is the famous and atmospheric Vasari Corridor, which connects Palazzo Vecchio to Palazzo Pitti via the Uffizi.

                 4. Uffizi

The Uffizi is one of the most famous museums in the world. The museum houses an invaluable collection of Renaissance artworks, including Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Primavera, the Tondo Doni and the Head of Medusa. 

                          

                             5.Boboli Gardens 

Behind Palazzo Pitti lies the magnificent Boboli Gardens, one of the most important examples of an Italian-style garden from the 16th century and a true open-air museum filled with sculptures and fountains.

 








   6. Basilica of Santa Croce

It is the largest Franciscan church in the world. Numerous tombs are preserved inside, including those of Michelangelo, Machiavelli and Galileo Galilei. Among the many works housed here, you can admire Donatello’s Crucifix. Another architectural masterpiece that should certainly be visited is the Pazzi Chapel, designed by Brunelleschi and a jewel of Renaissance architecture.

         7.Santo Spirito 

The Basilica of Santo Spirito is one of the most atmospheric places in Florence. It is located in the San Frediano district, named by Lonely Planet as one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world, characterised by artisan workshops and trendy, fashionable venues.

                            

The Accademia Gallery is one of the most famous museums in the world. The gallery houses Michelangelo’s David, one of the most representative works of the Italian Renaissance. Among its other masterpieces, you can admire the collection of models and plaster casts by Lorenzo Bartolini, along with numerous paintings and sculptures. 

                                  

      10. Cascine Park – Relax in the greenery

Cascine Park, more commonly known as the Cascine, is Florence’s largest green space, just a short distance from the city centre. It is the park where Florentines learn to ride a bicycle from an early age: they learn to cycle here . The park covers 160 hectares and contains several routes suitable for different types of bicycles, from city bikes and children’s bikes to trekking bikes and MTBs, ideal for reaching Parco dei Renai along the path beside the Arno.
