Florence beloont wie de fiets pakt: tot maximaal 30 euro per maand voor wie voor de tweewieler kiest
In Florence, there is an interesting project called “Pedala, Firenze ti premia” that offers financial incentives to those who use a bicycle for getting around the city. Here are the details:
The project provides a monthly contribution for people who travel by bicycle. The incentives include:
- Up to 20 euro cents per kilometre travelled for those who use a bicycle for journeys between home and work or home and school/university.
- Bonus for the most committed participants: Citizens who cover more kilometres may receive up to 100 euros for the 200 users who have accumulated the most points in the app through sustainable actions (kilometres cycled, participation in events and questionnaires, etc.). Over the course of the project, each participant may receive additional monthly rewards of up to a maximum of 200 euros.
- Participation: All citizens over 18 can participate, including workers and students. Participation is open to:
- Residents or people domiciled in Florence who study or work in Florence.
- Residents or people domiciled in Florence who work or study in the municipalities of the urban area (such as Bagno a Ripoli, Calenzano, Campi Bisenzio, Lastra a Signa, Scandicci, Sesto Fiorentino and Signa).
- Residents or people domiciled in the municipalities of the urban area who study or work in Florence.
- Objective: The project aims to promote bicycle use for all regular journeys, not only between home and work but also between home and school/university. The incentive is higher for these journeys, reaching up to 20 euro cents per kilometre.
Both regular bicycles and pedal-assisted bicycles (e-bikes and cargo bikes) can be used. The purchase of the latter will be subsidised by the municipality starting in June.
- Pin Bike Kit: The project is based on a kit developed by Pin Bike, which certifies and monitors urban routes. The kit includes a Bluetooth hardware device and a dedicated app.
This project represents a turning point for cycling mobility in Florence and demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to air quality and a new form of mobility with less traffic and pollution.
