Tour De France 2024, tribute to Italy departing from Florence

Tour de France 2024 tribute to Italy starting from Florence in the spirit of Bartali and Gastone Nencini, it will also pass through Cesenatico, which means Marco Pantani, and Pinerolo to honor Fausto Coppi.

The 111th edition of the Grande Boucle is starting from Italy for the first time in its history, a unique edition with the start from Piazza della Signoria in Florence on Saturday, June 29, and the finish in Nice on Sunday, July 21.
The Tour will remain in Italy for the following days until the border is crossed on the fourth day.

FIRST STAGE - Saturday, June 29, 2024, Florence-Rimini, starting in the birthplace of Gino Bartali, the first leg of 205 km will immediately feature a challenging start with 7 climbs and 3800 meters of elevation gain in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, finishing in Rimini.

SECOND STAGE - Sunday, June 30, 2024, Cesenatico-Bologna, 2nd stage, covering 200 kilometers, starting from Cesenatico, the city of Marco Pantani, with a flat section along the Romagna coast before reaching the first climbs in the Imola area and the ascent of Colle di San Luca, finishing in Bologna.

THIRD STAGE - Monday, July 1, 2024, the 3rd stage will take the Tour to Piedmont, the land of Fausto Coppi, touching Lombardy with 229 km from Piacenza to Turin passing through the Apennines and the Po River, giving sprinters their first big opportunity before heading to Turin. A sprint point in Tortona is planned in memory of Coppi.

The fourth stage, Tuesday, July 2, will bid farewell to Italy starting from Pinerolo, recalling one of Fausto Coppi’s great feats, the 1949 Cuneo-Pinerolo, before arriving in France where the race will intensify.
