Tour de France 2024 - the route from Florence to Nice

Tour de France 2024: Florence is preparing to host the Great Departure.

Florence will be the protagonist of the Grand Departure of the Tour de France 2024, the most famous and followed cycling race in the world.

For the first time in history, the route of the Grande Boucle will be given by Italy, in a city that boasts a great tradition and passion for cycling.

The race will start from Florence on 29 June 2024 from Piazza della Signoria and will end in Nice on 21 July, after almost 3,500 kilometers of challenges, emotions and entertainment.

The departure of the Tour de France 2024 will be a unique and unrepeatable event, which will involve not only the city of Florence, but also all the Tuscany and Italy.
The mayor of Florence Dario Nardella, who is also the chairman of the institutional committee of the Grand Départ 2024, announced that there will be many events until June 2024 to celebrate the race and its champions.

The first appointment scheduled in the city is that of 21 March, 100 days before departure, when in Piazza della Repubblica will start the countdown.

Thursday, June 27 the teams will be presented at Piazzale Michelangelo, while the headquarters of the Grand Départ will be at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

Saturday, June 29, the first stage of the Tour, from Florence to Rimini, will start from the park of the Cascine and parade in the historic center to Piazza della Signoria, where there will be the official ribbon cutting.

The stage will then pass from various locations of the Metropolitan City of Florence, such as Bagno a Ripoli, Pontassieve, Pelago, Rufina, Dicomano, San Godenzo. Crossing the pass of the Tre Faggi, the yellow caravan will head towards Romagna, for a total of 206 kilometers.

The second stage, from Cesenatico to Bologna, will pay tribute to Marco Pantani with two steps on the climb to San Luca.

The third stage, from Piacenza to Turin, will be for sprinters.

The fourth stage will start from Pinerolo and will take riders to France where there will be the first major climbs with Sestriere, Monginevro and Galibier.

A decisive moment of the race will definitely be the seventh stage : a short individual time trial of 25 kilometers that will enliven the ranking.

The ninth stage will have 32 kilometers of dirt road divided into 14 sections > to relive the emotions of the White Roads.

In the Pyrenees there will be arrivals at altitude in Saint Lary Soulan (Pla d'Adet) and Plateau de Beille.

The last week will be decisive with the arrivals uphill to Isola 2000 and Col de la Couillole.
The last day there wont't the usual parade along the Champs-Élysées, but an individual chronometer of 34 kilometers from Monaco to Nice.
