Florence Cycling Itinerary: In the Saddle from Zà Zà
Saddle up to taste: a cycling itinerary in the heart of Florence with a stop at Zà Zà
Florence is a city best savored slowly, and there's no better way to do so than by combining two of Tuscany's greatest passions: cycling and good food.
We at Cicli Sergio Bianchi , who have been putting Florentines on their bikes for generations, know that after a ride along the Arno River and the alleys of the city center, the most coveted reward is a dish that tastes of home, tradition, and passion. And it is here that our route inevitably leads us to Piazza del Mercato Centrale, at number 26r, where Trattoria Zà Zà has welcomed travelers and locals since 1977.
The itinerary: from the shop to the market
Starting from our historic shop on Via San Gallo, we suggest a short panoramic tour:
- Pedal to Piazza Duomo to feast your eyes on the marble of the Cathedral.
- Passage through Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza della Signoria and on towards the Ponte Vecchio.
- Return to the San Lorenzo district, the beating heart of Florentine commerce.
Once you arrive in Piazza del Mercato, park your bike and let yourself be guided by the aromas emanating from the characteristic rooms of Zà Zà.
Must-haves for the hungry cyclist
Cycling works up an appetite, and Stefano Bondi's menu is a veritable encyclopedia of Tuscan flavors. Here's what we recommend to recharge your batteries:
- The legendary Antipasto alla Zà Zà (mixed polenta and crunchy bread crostini, mixed cured meats, truffle omelette and fried meatballs)
- The famous Truffle Specialties: Whether it's ravioli, tagliatelle, or a fillet, Zà Zà's truffle is a mystical experience worth every kilometer traveled.
- The Florentine Steak: Cooked over charcoal, it's the ideal finish for those who have been pedaling all day and want the highest quality.
-
The famous "Za-Za" Apple Pie: The recipe is a secret, but the pleasure is guaranteed!
Both Cicli Sergio Bianchi and Trattoria Zà Zà embody the essence of Florence: the city that doesn't rush, but pedals with style; the city that never settles, but seeks authenticity in every detail, from the spokes of a vintage bicycle to a masterfully prepared wild boar sauce.
