Florence Invests in Sustainable Mobility: €728,970 in Incentives

Florence is taking a decisive step toward more sustainable urban mobility with a new grant program providing over €700,000 for the purchase of electric bicycles and pedal-assist cargo bikes. A concrete opportunity for residents, students, and workers who want to embrace a more ecological and healthy lifestyle.

How Much Is the Bonus Worth

The grant can cover up to 80% of the cost of the vehicle, up to the following maximum amounts:

  • €500 for pedal-assist electric bicycles (e-bikes)
  • €1,000 for pedal-assist cargo bikes

The bonus is paid in two installments: 50% after the application is approved and the remaining 50% after traveling 400 km within 6 months (approximately 2 km per day), tracked through the IF App.

Who Can Apply for the Bonus

The grant is open to adults who fall into one of these categories:

  • Residents or domiciled persons in Florence who study or work in Florence or in the municipalities of the urban agglomeration (Bagno a Ripoli, Calenzano, Campi Bisenzio, Lastra a Signa, Scandicci, Sesto Fiorentino, Signa)
  • Residents or domiciled persons in the municipalities of the urban agglomeration who study or work in Florence

Important Dates: When to Apply

Applications may be submitted from December 9, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. to December 31, 2026 at 12:00 p.m., unless the available funds run out sooner.

Tip: don’t wait until the last minute! Funds may run out before the deadline.

How It Works: The 3 Phases of the Grant Program

Phase 1: Purchase and Application

After purchasing your e-bike or cargo bike, you must submit an application with:

  • Purchase invoice or tax receipt
  • Technical data sheet for the vehicle (it must be type-approved)
  • Proof of payment
  • IBAN for payment of the grant
  • Compatible smartphone (Android 10+ or iOS 17.6+) for the IF App
  • Email address

Phase 2: Verification and Payment of the First Installment

The Municipality will verify the requirements and, if approved, will credit 50% of the bonus.

Phase 3: Second Installment

To receive the remaining 50%, you must:

  • Travel at least 400 km in 6 months using the purchased vehicle
  • Take part in the challenge through the IF App to track kilometers
  • Take part in the “MaaS4Italy” project by completing at least one trip as a tester

Commitments and Restrictions

Bonus recipients agree to:

  • Keep the vehicle for at least 2 years
  • Use it for travel within the Florence area and the municipalities in the urban agglomeration
  • Submit only one grant application per person
