Florence Invests in Sustainable Mobility: €728,970 in Incentives

Florence is taking a decisive step toward more sustainable urban mobility with a new call for proposals offering over €700,000 for the purchase of electric bicycles and pedal-assisted cargo bikes. This represents a concrete opportunity for residents, students, and workers who want to embrace a greener and healthier lifestyle.

How Much Is the Bonus Worth?

The contribution can cover up to 80% of the cost of the vehicle , with maximum amounts of:

  • 500 euros for pedal-assisted electric bicycles (e-bikes)
  • 1,000 euros for pedal-assisted cargo bikes

The bonus is paid in two installments : 50% after the application is approved and the remaining 50% upon reaching 400 km traveled in 6 months (approximately 2 km per day), recorded via the IF App.

Who Can Claim the Bonus

The call is aimed at adults who fall into one of these categories:

  • Residents or domiciled in Florence who study or work in Florence or in the municipalities of the agglomeration (Bagno a Ripoli, Calenzano, Campi Bisenzio, Lastra a Signa, Scandicci, Sesto Fiorentino, Signa)
  • Residents or domiciled in the municipalities of the agglomeration who study or work in Florence

Important Dates: When to Apply

Applications can be submitted from 9 December 2025 at 10:00 am to 31 March 2026 at 12:00 pm , unless available funds are exhausted earlier.

Tip: Don't wait until the last minute! Funds may run out before the deadline.

How It Works: The 3 Phases of the Call

Phase 1: Purchase and Request

After purchasing your e-bike or cargo bike, you will need to apply with:

  • Purchase invoice or receipt
  • Technical data sheet of the vehicle (must be approved)
  • Payment receipt
  • IBAN for the contribution payment
  • Compatible smartphone (Android 10+ or ​​iOS 17.6+) for the IF App
  • E-mail address

Phase 2: Verification and Disbursement of First Tranche

The Municipality will verify the requirements and, if approved, will credit 50% of the bonus.

Phase 3: Second Tranche

To receive the remaining 50% you will have to:

  • Travel at least 400 km in 6 months with the purchased vehicle
  • Participate in the challenge via the IF App to count your kilometers
  • Participate in the "MaaS4Italy" project by completing at least one trip as an experimenter

Commitments and Constraints

Whoever receives the bonus undertakes to:

  • Maintain the vehicle for at least 2 years
  • Use it for travel within the Florence area and surrounding municipalities
  • Submit only one grant request per person
