Florence is taking a decisive step towards more sustainable urban mobility with a new tender offering over 700,000 euros for the purchase of electric bicycles and pedal-assisted cargo bikes. How Much is the Bonus Worth?

The contribution can cover up to 80% of the vehicle's cost, with maximum amounts of:

  • 500 euros for pedal-assisted electric bicycles (e-bikes)
  • 1,000 euros for pedal-assisted cargo bikes

The bonus is disbursed in two tranches: 50% after the application is approved and the remaining 50% upon reaching 400 km traveled in 6 months (approximately 2 km per day), tracked via the IF App.

Who Can Apply for the Bonus?

The tender is aimed at adults who fall into one of these categories:

  • Residents or domiciled in Florence who study or work in Florence or in the agglomeration municipalities (Bagno a Ripoli, Calenzano, Campi Bisenzio, Lastra a Signa, Scandicci, Sesto Fiorentino, Signa)
  • Residents or domiciled in the agglomeration municipalities who study or work in Florence

Applications can be submitted from December 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM to September 30, 2026, at 12:00 PM, unless available funds run out earlier.

How It Works: The 3 Phases of the Tender

Phase 1: Purchase and Application

After purchasing your e-bike or cargo bike, you will need to submit an application with:

  • Invoice or fiscal receipt of purchase
  • Vehicle technical data sheet (must be type-approved)
  • Payment receipt
  • IBAN for the contribution payment
  • Compatible smartphone (Android 10+ or iOS 17.6+) for the IF App
  • Email address

Phase 2: Verification and Disbursement of First Tranche

The Municipality will verify the requirements and, if approved, will credit 50% of the bonus.

Phase 3: Second Tranche

To receive the remaining 50%, you will need to:

  • Travel at least 400 km in 6 months with the purchased vehicle
  • Participate in the challenge via the IF App for mileage counting
  • Participate in the "MaaS4Italy" project by completing at least one trip as an experimenter

Commitments and Constraints

Those who receive the bonus commit to:

  • Keep the vehicle for at least 2 years
  • Use it for travel within Florence and the agglomeration municipalities
  • Submit only one contribution request per person
